I am working in India as a member of a team on one of the Saskatchewan Teachers' Federation's international projects called Project India. We are going to be working with national and state level teacher leaders from the All India Primary Teachers' Federation. They have 1.2 million members across India. (The STF has 12 000). We are working with their teachers on broadening the instructional strategies used in class. As you can imagine, teaching conditions in India vary widely from regular classrooms we would recognize to rural situations which operate like one room school houses.
Our work is to engage the national and state leaders in their study of instructional strategies and facilitation skills they can use with adult learners.
I will be with the team for half of their trip spending my first week in Delhi and the second in Bhubaneswar, on the east coast. You can find each on the map below:
